As a first year BME student, you now have the opportunity to study at Laurea University of Applied Sciences, in the Helsinki Region. With around 7800 students, Laurea is one of the biggest UAS’s in Finland. Laurea UAS’s location close to Helsinki gives great entertainment and exploration opportunities: Helsinki, the capital of Finland on one side, and on the other side the stunning Finnish nature and National Parks.

Over the past few years, Laurea ranked high in evaluations of Finnish higher education institutions and is also being recognized many times in categories such as quality of education. Our active student union arranges annual trips, for example to Lapland and our neighbour country Sweden. We are well known for our pedagogical model, Learning by Developing. This unique learning model focuses on practical projects with real-life companies and organizations, already during the first year of studying.
